SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John F. Cirricione of Joliet, who passed away on December 16, 2014; and

WHEREAS, John Cirricione was born in Joliet on April 24, 1926 to Sylvester and Mary (nee DiLorenzo) Cirricione; he graduated from Joliet Township High School, Joliet Junior College, and The John Marshall Law School; he served in the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, John Cirricione worked in private practice in Joliet for 31 years; he was then appointed Associate Judge of the 12th Judicial Circuit, a position he held for 17 years; he was admitted as an Attorney and Counselor of the Supreme Court of the United States; and

WHEREAS, John Cirricione was an avid drummer, starting in high school and continuing throughout his entire life; he was a member of the American Legion Band, the Shrine Club Band, and played in the Jay Mau Orchestra; he was a member of Joliet Masonic Temple Matteson Lodge #175, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons; past President of the Joliet Chapter of UNICO; a member of American Federation of Musicians Local #37; and a former member of the Joliet Junior College Board; he enjoyed spending time his wife, Betty, at their home in Arkansas; and

WHEREAS, John Cirricione was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy (nee Eckert) Cirricione; his son, John Cirricione; his parents; his sister, Anna Marie (Thomas) Turigliatto; and his step-son, Joseph Holzgethan; and

WHEREAS, John Cirricione is survived by his wife, Betty A. (nee Baxter) Cirricione; his daughter, Sandra (Thomas) Cowgill; his 2 sons, Thomas (Karen) Cirricione and Richard (Candace) Cirricione; his 2 step-children, William (Marilyn) Holzgethan and Ruth (Brian) Gabor; his 11 grandchildren, Mark (Holly) Cowgill, Jennifer (Corwin) Sandusky, James (Rachel) Cowgill, Laura Cirricione, Lisa Cirricione, Nancy Cirricione, Elizabeth (Justin) Summerville, Lynn Cirricione, Anthony Cirricione, Jill Cirricione, and John Cirricione; his 4 step-grandchildren, Jill Holzgethan, Brian Gabor, Jr., Corey Gabor, and Benjamin Gabor; his 8 great-grandchildren; his 2 nieces, Terri Nugent and Trudi Cassidy; and his nephew, Tom Turigliatto; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John F. Cirricione, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Cirricione as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
