SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lenard Jonn "Lenny" Szarek of Johnsburg,
4who passed away on February 8, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lenard Szarek was born in Waukegan on January 22,
61948 to Walter and Stephanie (nee Wasowicz) Szarek; he was
7educated at Montini Catholic School in McHenry and graduated
8from Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock in 1966;
9he married Christine Wilson in Woodstock on April 3, 1971; and
 
10    WHEREAS, After high school, Lenard Szarek worked as a
11carpenter and began his lifetime passion in the field of
12construction; he worked for Ernie Kissinger Co. and then R.D.
13Thiel & Co. for many years; in 1983, he began Lenny Szarek,
14Inc., building homes and commercial buildings with skilled
15union carpenters; he was very proud to use skilled union
16craftsman in his profession; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Lenard Szarek enjoyed target shooting, bowling,
18golfing, the Chicago Blackhawks, and the Chicago Cubs; he loved
19shopping "the Amazon way", Chicago nightlife, and taking
20sunrise walks along Lake Shore Drive; he loved the
21companionship of his schnauzers, Muffin, Maggie, and Lilly; and

1    WHEREAS, Lenard Szarek was preceded in death by his parents
2and his sister, Carol Schmidt; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Lenard Szarek is survived by his wife of 43 years,
4Christine; his 4 children, Jay (Kimberly) Szarek, Michael
5(Dina) Szarek, Laura (Ron) Burns, and Lisa (Ryan) Picou; and
6his 7 grandchildren, Kaylie, Karissa, Sean, Mitchell,
7Jennifer, Christina, and Elliot; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Lenard John "Lenny" Szarek, and extend our sincere condolences
11to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Lenard Szarek as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
