SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Michael W. Wurtz of Woodstock, who passed
4away on February 7, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michael Wurtz was born in Des Plaines on April 22,
61966 to William N. and Ilyce (nee Tilden) Wurtz; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Michael Wurtz started with the Woodstock
8Fire/Rescue District in January of 2002 and became a full-time
9firefighter on July 17, 2006 under Badge #22; he was attached
10to Station #2; in addition to serving as a firefighter, he was
11a police officer with the McCullom Lake Police Department; he
12also served as a MABAS Division 5 Fire Investigator, was part
13of the Lake/McHenry County Wildland Firefighting Team, and was
14a member of the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois State
15Honor Guard; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Michael Wurtz married Melissa M. Suriano on
17September 8, 2012 at Fire Station #3 in Woodstock; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Michael Wurtz was a member of the International
19Association of Firefighters Local 4813, as well as the Heat and
20Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Local 17; he enjoyed being
21with his family and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman; and

1    WHEREAS, Michael Wurtz was preceded in death by his father;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Michael Wurtz is survived by his wife, Melissa;
4his daughters, Katelyn Wurtz, Meghan Wurtz, and Reilly Wurtz;
5his step-children, Anna Kempka and Johnny Kempka; his brother,
6Brian Wurtz; his sisters, Debbie Murphy, Brenda Smart, and
7Laura Wurtz; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Michael W. Wurtz, and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Michael Wurtz as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
