SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Citizens of the State owe a tremendous debt of
3gratitude to the men and women of the Illinois State Toll
4Highway Authority who selflessly work to aid drivers and keep
5our roadways safe; every day these individuals face risks and
6often put their personal safety on-the-line to perform their
7duties; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
9learn of the death of Vincenzo Petrella of Wheeling, who
10tragically passed away on January 27, 2014 while helping a
11motorist whose truck was disabled along the Ronald Reagan
12Memorial Tollway in Aurora; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Vincenzo Petrella joined the Illinois Tollway in
142001 and was a dedicated employee for 13 years; he worked as a
15Equipment Operator Laborer since 2005, taking on roadway duties
16that included assisting stranded drivers; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Vincenzo Petrella was a respected tollway
18employee who will always be remembered for the countless lives
19he touched; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Vincenzo Petrella was the loving husband of Sandra
21(nee Shammas); the devoted father of Carmela and Giovanni

1Carlo; the beloved son of Carmela and Carlo Petrella; the
2cherished brother of Maria Petrella; the dear son-in-law of
3Virgine and Sabah Shammas; the brother-in-law of Daniel
4Shammas; and dear cousin and friend to many; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Vincenzo Petrella, and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Vincenzo Petrella as an expression
12of our deepest sympathy.
