SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edward Duffy, who passed away on January
44, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward Duffy was born in 1945; his parents were
6Edward and Dorothy Duffy; he married the love of his life,
7Nancy, in 1968; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Edward Duffy had a long and distinguished career
9in public service; after many years in the Chicago Police
10Department, he later served the State of Illinois as head of
11the Dangerous Drugs Commission, the Department of Alcoholism
12and Substance Abuse, the Department of Public Aid, and as
13Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor James Thompson; he
14subsequently moved to the private sector, where he served as
15President of Arlington Park Racetrack and oversaw the
16rebuilding of the track; he also oversaw the transformation of
17Sportsman's Park into a dual-purpose facility that brought
18world class auto racing to Illinois with Chicago Motor
19Speedway; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Edward Duffy is survived by his wife, Nancy; his
21children, Colleen, Meghan, Kelli, Erin, Cara, Tim, Eric, Brent,
22and Scott; and his grandchildren, Katelyn, Madison, Braden,

1Bryce, Ansley, Everleigh, Finnegan, and Brooklyn; therefore,
2be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
5family and friends, mourn the passing of Edward Duffy; and be
6it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Edward Duffy as an expression of our
9sympathy.
