SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James A. Feeney of Channahon, who passed away on November 30, 2013; and

WHEREAS, James Feeney was born on October 30, 1940 in Elgin to John B. and Genevieve (nee McDonald) Feeney; he graduated from St. John's Catholic Grade School in Joliet and attended Joliet Catholic High School and Joliet Central High School; he married Sharon Randolph; and

WHEREAS, James Feeney worked for Sulphur Terminal, Rogers Carthage Company, Wadsworth Golf Construction Company, and Illinois Truck and Equipment; and

WHEREAS, James Feeney was a former member of the Channahon Volunteer Fire Department and a former board member of the Channahon Fire Protection District and the Channahon Park District; he was a member of St. Ann Catholic Parish and St. Ann Men's Club and one of the founders of St. Ann Mission Chapel; he also belonged to Teamsters Local #179 Retirees; and

WHEREAS, James Feeney enjoyed grilling for Daybreak Shelter, feeding hummingbirds, fishing, camping, and his Christmas morning oyster stew and "Grandpa's Breakfast Club"; and

WHEREAS, James Feeney was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Darlene (the late James) Downey; and

WHEREAS, James Feeney is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon; his children, James A. (Lucy) Feeney, Jr. and Sharyl (John) Horvat; his grandchildren, Katherine (Charles) Davis, John W. Feeney, Chandler Horvat, Shalyn Horvat, and John J. Horvat; his great-grandchild, McKenna Mae Davis; his siblings, Michael (Phyllis) Feeney, John (Virginia) Feeney, Mary Jean (Jerry) Breen, and Patrick (Michele) Feeney; his Godchildren, Kim Mitchell and Kathi Miner; his special nieces, Kirby Feeney and Jeannine Arias; and many more nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James A. Feeney, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Feeney as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
