SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marlene A. Shields (nee Franz) of Waukegan, who passed away on November 20, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Shields was born on July 26, 1934 in Waukegan to Robert and Marie Franz; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Shields retired from the Outboard Marine Corporation in Waukegan after 32 years; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Shields enjoyed spending time with family and friends and polka dancing with her husband; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Shields was preceded in death by her parents; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Shields is survived by her husband of 62 years, Eugene; her children, William (Marie) Shields, Sharon (Hugh) Smith, and Kathleen (David) Wendricks; her 7 grandchildren; her 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Donna (Edward) Bukantis; and her brother, Robert (Jane) Franz; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marlene A. Shields, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marlene Shields as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
