SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jim Hansen, South Elgin Village President, who passed away on November 1, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Jim Hansen was born on July 29, 1960 in Elgin to James and Maxine (nee Murphy) Hansen; he married Teri Spencer in 1981; and

WHEREAS, Jim Hansen was first elected to the village board in 1991, and was elected Village President in 2001; he oversaw South Elgin's westward expansion while keeping the "hometown feel"; he was instrumental in the development of Concord Park and its baseball fields; he also worked as a manager at NAPA Auto Parts and in the purchasing department for Kane County; and

WHEREAS, Jim Hansen always believed his biggest job was to be a consensus-builder; and

WHEREAS, Jim Hansen was preceded in death by his father, James; his father-in-law, Eugene Spencer; and his faithful companion, "Archie"; and

WHEREAS, Jim Hansen is survived by his wife, Teri; his sons, Dustin (Jennifer), Scott (Shannon), and Daniel (Hana Dillon) Hansen; his grandchildren, Aiden, Marcus, Addison, and Devin; his mother, Maxine Hansen; his brother, Don (Linda) Hansen; his mother-in-law, Bonnie Spencer; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jim Hansen, South Elgin Village President, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jim Hansen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
