SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph P. Spears of Hanna City, who
4passed away on October 8, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joseph Spears was born on February 20, 1953 in
6Peoria to Joseph W. and Theresa I. (nee Fitzpatrick) Spears; he
7married Sue Kowalski on August 16, 1986 in Peoria; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Joseph Spears was a patrolman for the Peoria
9Police Department for over 35 years, retiring in 2012; after
10retirement, he worked for Sherwin-Williams and Green Finish
11Line Ford; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Joseph Spears coached and taught at Owens Center
13Ice Rink for over 10 years and was coordinator for the Peoria
14Mini-Mites Youth Hockey Program; he enjoyed watching the
15Chicago Blackhawks, woodworking, being outdoors, riding his
16Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and being with his family; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Joseph Spears was preceded in death by his parents
18and his sister-in-law, Regina Spears; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Joseph Spears is survived by his wife, Sue; his
20daughters, Becky (David) Burke and Devan Spears; his son, Joey

1Spears; his granddaughter, Kennedy Burke; his brothers, Jim
2Spears, Bill (Deb) Spears, Bob Spears, Mike (Julie) Spears, Pat
3(Cindy) Spears, and Tom (Angie) Spears; and 35 nieces and
4nephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Joseph P. Spears, and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Joseph Spears as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
