SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary Katherine (Stegall) Lawton, who passed away on September 20, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Mary Lawton was born on September 26, 1928 in Woodlawn, Mississippi; her parents were Dewey L. and Jodie (nee Wells) Stegall; and

WHEREAS, Mary Lawton served the Bunker Hill community for over 65 years as a member of numerous organizations, local school boards, and various county boards; she was also a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother; and

WHEREAS, Mary Lawton was a member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, Mary Lawton was preceded in death by her parents, her 3 brothers; and her sister; and

WHEREAS, Mary Lawton is survived by her husband, Lester Lawton; her sons, Terry (Jean) Lawton and Charles (Chuck) Lawton; her daughters, Diane Lawton, Gwen Lawton, and Dolores (Tom) Brewer; her grandchildren, Tammy (Dave) Hall, Jodie Brewer (fiance, Clay Peet), Aaron (Danielle) Brewer, Brian (Stephanie) Lawton, and Stacy (John) Hrnyak; and her great-grandchildren, Moran and Jackson Hall, Kimberly and Gunner Lawton, and Brady Hrnyak; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Mary Katherine Lawton; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Lawton as an expression of our sympathy.
