SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John Edward "Jack" Kelsey of McHenry, who passed away on July 27, 2013; and

WHEREAS, John Kelsey was born on July 25, 1928, in Chicago; he served his country in the United States Coast Guard; and

WHEREAS, John Kelsey worked as a pilot with United Airlines for 37 years, retiring in 1988 on his birthday; and

WHEREAS, John Kelsey was a member of the McHenry Rotary Club for more than 25 years and was active in the Rotary's mission to stamp out polio; he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed collecting coins and stamps and working with wood; he and his wife liked to split their vacation time between Canada and their Wisconsin retreat and were members of the Pistakee Yacht Club and the McHenry Country Club; and

WHEREAS, John Kelsey was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy "Doe" and by his brothers, Russ and Dave; and

WHEREAS, John Kelsey is survived by his daughters, Susan Althoff and Meg (Jim) Lane and by his grandchildren, Peter Althoff, Megan Althoff, Andy Lane, and Emmie Lane; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John Edward "Jack" Kelsey, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Kelsey as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
