SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ellen A. Furtkamp, who passed away on June 23, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Ellen Furtkamp was born on December 13, 1927, in Staunton; she married Robert W. Furtkamp on January 29, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Ellen Furtkamp attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and

WHEREAS, Ellen Furtkamp served as chairperson of the Lake County Board of Review from 1980 to 1981 and was active in numerous local political activities; and

WHEREAS, Ellen Furtkamp and her husband volunteered with the Lake County Literacy Program; they were honored by the program for donating over 500 volunteer hours to tutor adult students in a pre-beginning English as a Second Language course at the College of Lake County; and

WHEREAS, Ellen Furtkamp was preceded in death by her dear daughter, Leslie; and

WHEREAS, Ellen Furtkamp is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Robert; and her sons, Eric and Brian; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Ellen A. Furtkamp; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ellen Furtkamp as an expression of our sympathy.
