SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Martina "Martye" W. Dillard (nee Whitfield) of Hinsdale, who passed away on January 7, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Martina Dillard was born in 1924 in Madisonville, Kentucky; she married Edward F. Dillard and was a 50 year resident of Hinsdale; and

WHEREAS, Martina Dillard was the head operating room nurse at Hines V.A. Hospital for over 50 years; she was the president of the Chicago chapter of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses in the 1980s and trained scores of Loyola Medical School residents in proper operating room protocol; and

WHEREAS, Martina Dillard was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Edward Dillard; and

WHEREAS, Martina Dillard is survived by her children Illinois State Senator Kirk (Stephanie) Dillard, Kimberly (Steven), and Karyn Mina (Peter); her grandchildren, Jessica (Robert), Zachary, Graham, Grace, Emma, and Ava; and her great-grandson, Alex; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Martina Dillard, and we extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Martina Dillard as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
