SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Betty Ann Rich of Sugar Grove; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Betty Rich was born on March 29, 1940, and was
5raised on the north side of Chicago near Lake Michigan and
6Wrigley Field; she attended Lakeview High School for a short
7time before her family moved to Downers Grove; she graduated
8from Downers Grove High School in 1957 and attended Northern
9Illinois University; Betty graduated from Northern Illinois
10University on June 10, 1961 and married Jerry Rich later that
11same night at the First Methodist Church in Downers Grove; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Betty and Jerry moved to a small farm in Sugar
13Grove; their farm would later blossom into a farming estate;
14she and Jerry would also develop Rich Harvest Farms in 1985,
15now an 18-hole private golf course; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Betty Rich was an avid Chicago Cubs fan; as a
17child she would get out of school just in time to catch the 7th
18inning of games; she loved the City of Chicago and learned at a
19young age to take the 'L' train; she enjoyed playing bridge
20with her mother, Marge, still living today at age 92; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Betty Rich's giving spirit led her and Jerry to

1found the Kids Golf Foundation in 1998, a nonprofit junior golf
2organization making its home today at Rich Harvest Farms; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Betty Rich is survived by her husband, Jerry; her
4mother, Marge; her son, Keith Rich; and her grandchildren,
5Margaret and Lauren Rich; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Betty Ann Rich, and extend our sincere condolences to her
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Betty Rich as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
