SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dr. Warren Coultas Barrow of Pittsfield,
4who passed away on June 20, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Warren Barrow was born on March 11, 1929, in
6White Hall to Adlai (Doc) and Marinda Barrow; he graduated from
7Roodhouse High School and attended Northwestern University in
8Evanston for 3 years before transferring to the University of
9Georgia in Athens, graduating in 1953; he returned to the
10Midwest and attended the University of Illinois School of
11Medicine in Chicago and received his doctorate in Medicine in
121957; he married Elvira Pessina on March 27, 1954; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dr. Warren Barrow completed his residency in
14Internal Medicine at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital in
15Chicago; following his residency, he joined the U.S. Army and
16served as a medical officer while stationed at Fort Bliss in El
17Paso, Texas; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dr. Warren Barrow joined Dr. Thomas Bunting in
19Pittsfield on October 27, 1961, to begin his life-long dream to
20become a general practitioner in a rural area; for 50 years he
21provided medical care to his community and served as general
22practitioner, cardiologist, gynecologist, obstetrician,

1emergency room physician, urologist, gastroenterologist,
2pulmonologist, and psychiatrist to his patients; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dr. Warren Barrow enjoyed hunting and one of his
4most cherished times of the year was the Labor Day weekend dove
5hunt; he liked to tell hunting stories and had several
6generations of hunting dogs who were his loyal companions
7throughout his life; he was fond of watching old Western
8movies, fishing, reading, and traveling with his wife and
9children; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dr. Warren Barrow was preceded in death by his
11brother, Jack Barrow; his niece, Kim Barrow Badali (surviving
12husband, Bob); and his daughter, Kristine Barrow Tarpoff
13(surviving husband, Craig); and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dr. Warren Barrow is survived by his wife of 59
15years, Elvira; his sons, Dan (Mollie) and Jim (Jennifer); his
16daughter, Amy (Mack); his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alex, and
17Jill Barrow, Emily, Jack, and Tom Barrow, and Brock (Kathleen)
18and Emma Halbrook; his great-grandchildren, Lennon Barrow and
19Shay and Emilie Halbrook; his nephew, David Barrow; and his
20great-niece, Toni Badali; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1Dr. Warren Coultas Barrow, and extend our sincere condolences
2to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
3it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Dr. Warren Barrow as an expression
6of our deepest sympathy.
