SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marion Miner "Rocky" Duffin of Pekin, who
4passed away on May 31, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marion Duffin was born on August 5, 1950, in
6Peoria to Donald William and Violet America (Fey) Duffin; he
7married Sharon Rae Stewart on August 1, 1970; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Marion Duffin worked as a millwright for
9Caterpillar Inc. from 1969 to 1992; he was a proud member of,
10and served as a recording secretary for, United Auto Workers
11Local 974 and had also served on the board of the UAW Senior
12Citizens Center in Pekin; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marion Duffin was dedicated to the youth of his
14community; he served as a longtime coach for the Pekin Junior
15Football League and as a member of the Shade Memorial Youth
16Camp Board and was a member and past president of the Pekin
17Quarterback Club; he served several terms as a member of the
18Pekin Park District Board of Commissioners; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Marion Duffin was a member of First Christian
20Church in Pekin; he was also a member of Pekin Moose Family
21Center 916, the Pekin Boat Club, Manito Masonic Lodge No. 476,

1Pekin Chapter 25 of the Royal Arch Masons, Pekin Elks Lodge
21271, and was a former member of the Pekin Chapter of AMBUCS;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Marion Duffin was preceded in death by his
5parents; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Marion Duffin is survived by his wife, Sharon; his
7sons, Donald James "D.J" (Denise) Duffin and Chad Michael
8(Michelle) Duffin; his grandchildren, Cole Duffin, Jordan
9Duffin, Kaylia Duffin, and Cade Duffin; his sister, Joy Lynn
10Kranz; his mother-in-law, Betty Rogge; his brother-in-law,
11James (Brenda) Stewart; his sister-in-law, Val (Tony)
12Nowosielski; and his nieces, Tammy (Fred) Brooks and Tonya
13(Kenny) Johnson; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Marion Duffin, and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Marion Duffin as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
