SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Frederick J. "Fritz" Campbell of Wenona, who passed away on March 15, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Campbell was born on September 14, 1915, in Wenona; his parents were Fred J. and Frances Campbell; he married Merleta M. Anthony on January 20, 1951; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Campbell graduated from Wenona High School in 1933; after serving in the United States Army during World War II, he returned home and took over the family business, the Wenona Produce Company; after the company's closure, he worked for the Illinois State Comptroller, and then moved to the Illinois Department of Transportation, where he worked until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Campbell's passion in life was Republican politics; he served as a delegate to several Republican National Conventions and attended the presidential inaugurations of President Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush; he served as a Republican precinct committeeman and as Marshall County Republican chairman for 24 years; he was also very involved in local politics and eventually became the Mayor of Wenona, where he served for 4 terms; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Campbell was a member of the Wenona American Legion; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Campbell was preceded in death by his wife, Merleta; his brother, Vic Campbell; and his sister, Sheila Campbell; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Campbell is survived by his daughter, Susan (Don) Decker; his grandsons, Andrew (fiancee, Brooke Haarmann) Decker and Joshua Decker; his sisters, Donna Campbell and Mary Henderson; his brother, Robert Campbell; and his 5 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Frederick J. "Fritz" Campbell; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Frederick Campbell as an expression of our sympathy.
