SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Frederick J. "Fritz" Campbell of Wenona,
4who passed away on March 15, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frederick Campbell was born on September 14, 1915,
6in Wenona; his parents were Fred J. and Frances Campbell; he
7married Merleta M. Anthony on January 20, 1951; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Frederick Campbell graduated from Wenona High
9School in 1933; after serving in the United States Army during
10World War II, he returned home and took over the family
11business, the Wenona Produce Company; after the company's
12closure, he worked for the Illinois State Comptroller, and then
13moved to the Illinois Department of Transportation, where he
14worked until his retirement; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Frederick Campbell's passion in life was
16Republican politics; he served as a delegate to several
17Republican National Conventions and attended the presidential
18inaugurations of President Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush;
19he served as a Republican precinct committeeman and as Marshall
20County Republican chairman for 24 years; he was also very
21involved in local politics and eventually became the Mayor of
22Wenona, where he served for 4 terms; and

1    WHEREAS, Frederick Campbell was a member of the Wenona
2American Legion; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Frederick Campbell was preceded in death by his
4wife, Merleta; his brother, Vic Campbell; and his sister,
5Sheila Campbell; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Frederick Campbell is survived by his daughter,
7Susan (Don) Decker; his grandsons, Andrew (fiancee, Brooke
8Haarmann) Decker and Joshua Decker; his sisters, Donna Campbell
9and Mary Henderson; his brother, Robert Campbell; and his 5
10nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13his family and friends, the passing of Frederick J. "Fritz"
14Campbell; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Frederick Campbell as an expression
17of our sympathy.
