SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William Joseph "Bill" Cunningham of
4Vernon Hills, who passed away on March 10, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, William Cunningham was born in Chicago on April
629, 1935 to Thomas and Beatrice Cunningham; he graduated from
7Schurz High School; and
 
8    WHEREAS, William Cunningham worked as a painter with the
9Nimrod Decorating Company and was a very active member of
10Painters Union Local 275, serving as financial secretary,
11apprentice teacher, and eventually President and business
12agent for many years until his retirement; and
 
13    WHEREAS, William Cunningham was active in the Des Plaines
14community; he participated in Boy Scouts with his sons and
15Indian Guides with the YMCA; he also coached little-league
16baseball teams and was on many bowling teams; he was active in
17the Catholic Church and was a member of St. Mary of Vernon
18Church in Indian Creek for many years, where he assembled a
19golf team for the annual golf outing; he was also a member of
20St. Jude Catholic Church in Sarasota, Florida where he spent
21winters; and

1    WHEREAS, William Cunningham enjoyed monthly poker games
2with long-time friends, fishing, camping, and discovering his
3Irish heritage, which culminated in a trip to Ireland, visiting
4many of his extended relatives; he also traveled to Europe many
5times, the Caribbean, Hawaii, the Greek Isles, China, and many
6other destinations; he was a doting grandfather and attended
7every family event he could possibly fit in; and
 
8    WHEREAS, William Cunningham is survived by Patricia Beal;
9his children, Thomas Gregory (Jens) Cunningham, Donald William
10Cunningham, and Cynthia Louise (Thomas) Lademan; his
11grandchildren, Kelly Ann Cunningham, Deborah Claire
12Cunningham, and Kennedy Cunningham Xiu Qiu Lademan; his best
13friends and sisters, Maureen Sheila Sullivan and Eileen Ann
14Muench; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore,
15be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18William Joseph "Bill" Cunningham, and extend our sincere
19condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
20him; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of William Cunningham as an expression
23of our deepest sympathy.
