SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard "Vic" Gonzales of Alton, who
4passed away on February 12, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Gonzales was born on October 8, 1934, in
6San Felipe, Mexico, to Atanacio and Reyes (Carmona) Gonzales;
7he served in the U.S Army from 1957-1959 and was a member of
8St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; he retired from Amoco Oil
9Company as a pipefitter; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Richard Gonzales volunteered for the Red Cross
11beginning in 1995 and was Volunteer of the Year; he was one of
12the first disaster volunteers to respond to the September 11
13tragedy; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Richard Gonzales was dedicated to his community
15and his family; he was the grand marshal of the Alton Halloween
16parade in 1998; he enjoyed coaching many youth recreational
17sports teams and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Richard Gonzales was preceded in death by his
19parents; his sister, Consuelo Gonzales; his brothers, John,
20Peter, and Joseph Gonzales; and his niece, Theresa Gonzales;

1    WHEREAS, Richard Gonzales is survived by his siblings,
2Frank Gonzales, Juanita Cruz, Felix Gonzales, Herman Gonzales,
3and Tony Gonzales; his sister-in-law, Loretta Gonzales; his
4nieces and nephews, Margaret Clark, Michael Cruz, Daniel Cruz,
5Connie St. Peters, Julie Weiner, Ken Cruz, Leonard Gonzales,
6Raymond Gonzales, Christina Gebben, Tom Gonzales, Nancy
7Gonzales, Phil Gonzales, David Gonzales, Jennifer McCullough,
8and Reyes Mosley; and his numerous great-nieces and nephews;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Richard Gonzales, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Richard Gonzales as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
