SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Katherine Jean Taylor of Colfax, who passed away on March 8, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Taylor was born on July 26, 1940 in Farmer City; her parents were Maurice and Fontella Reid Fogal; she married Glenn Taylor on June 2, 1963 in Weedman; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Taylor graduated from Moore Township High School in Farmer City in 1958 as salutatorian; she subsequently graduated with honors from Illinois State Normal University in 1961; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Taylor taught at Octavia High School for 2 years; after a period where she stayed home to raise her boys, she returned to work at the College of Business at Illinois State University, where she worked for 26 years until her retirement in 2010; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Taylor was a member of the Octavia and Ridgeview School Boards for 8 years; she also served as an EMT for the Eastern McLean County Ambulance Association for 12 years; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Taylor was a huge supporter of Ridgeview athletics, especially the basketball program; she also enjoyed traveling with her husband to Ohio and Branson, Missouri, spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading, and Friday lunches with her sisters; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Taylor was preceded in death by her sister and her 5 brothers; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Taylor is survived by her husband, Glenn; her sons, Jason Taylor, Tim (Carla) Taylor, and David (Karen) Taylor; her grandchildren, Treavor Taylor, Ryan Wyse, and Addison Taylor; her sisters, Patricia Yowell and Linda Hillman; and her brother, Bill Fogal; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Katherine Jean Taylor; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Katherine Taylor as an expression of our sympathy.
