SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Katherine Jean Taylor of Colfax, who
4passed away on March 8, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Katherine Taylor was born on July 26, 1940 in
6Farmer City; her parents were Maurice and Fontella Reid Fogal;
7she married Glenn Taylor on June 2, 1963 in Weedman; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Katherine Taylor graduated from Moore Township
9High School in Farmer City in 1958 as salutatorian; she
10subsequently graduated with honors from Illinois State Normal
11University in 1961; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Katherine Taylor taught at Octavia High School for
132 years; after a period where she stayed home to raise her
14boys, she returned to work at the College of Business at
15Illinois State University, where she worked for 26 years until
16her retirement in 2010; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Katherine Taylor was a member of the Octavia and
18Ridgeview School Boards for 8 years; she also served as an EMT
19for the Eastern McLean County Ambulance Association for 12
20years; and

1    WHEREAS, Katherine Taylor was a huge supporter of Ridgeview
2athletics, especially the basketball program; she also enjoyed
3traveling with her husband to Ohio and Branson, Missouri,
4spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading, and
5Friday lunches with her sisters; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Katherine Taylor was preceded in death by her
7sister and her 5 brothers; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Katherine Taylor is survived by her husband,
9Glenn; her sons, Jason Taylor, Tim (Carla) Taylor, and David
10(Karen) Taylor; her grandchildren, Treavor Taylor, Ryan Wyse,
11and Addison Taylor; her sisters, Patricia Yowell and Linda
12Hillman; and her brother, Bill Fogal; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
15family and friends, mourn the passing of Katherine Jean Taylor;
16and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Katherine Taylor as an expression of
19our sympathy.
