SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lawrence "Gary" Morrison, who passed away on June 20, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Morrison was born Sept. 13, 1935, in Richwood Township, Jersey County; his parents were Lawrence and Marjorie (Harmon) Morrison; he married Joyce Flatt on January 1, 1960, in Macomb; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Morrison spent his life as a farmer on the Family Centennial Farm where he was born; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Morrison was active in many organizations throughout his life; he served as a director for MJM Electric Cooperative for over 20 years; he was a member of the state-wide AIEC Electric Cooperative Board of Directors and the Adopt a Family Farm Board of Directors; he was a trustee of the Fieldon First Baptist Church, Richwood Township, and Gunterman Cemetery; he was a Richwood Township Republican Committeeman; he was also a member of the Tri-County Antique Club/Cowboy Church and the Jersey County Farm Bureau; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Morrison was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George Morrison; and his sister, Connie Parsell; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Morrison is survived by his wife, Joyce; his special nephews, Don (Donna) Phillips and David (Lisa) Phillips; his sisters, Janet (Richard) Gilworth, Barbara Scott, Carol (Tom) Vogel, Beverly Phillips, Karen (Pat) Heitzig, and Patty (Bob) Wetzel; his many nieces and nephews; and his foster granddaughter, Jennifer Schultz Dougherty; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Lawrence "Gary" Morrison; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lawrence Morrison as an expression of our sympathy.
