SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Robert A. "Bob" Kudlicki, Sr.
4of Hampshire, who passed away on October 1, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Kudlicki was born in Muskegon, Michigan on
6October 10, 1928, to Sigmund and Cecelia (Grajewski) Kudlicki;
7he moved with his family to the north side of Chicago when he
8was 5 and attended St. Xavier Elementary School; he graduated
9from Lane Technical High School in 1946, and enlisted in the
10U.S. Marine Corps in August of 1946, taking basic training at
11Paris Island, North Carolina, before being stationed in
12Washington, D.C.; he was drafted back into the Marines in
13October 1950, for the Korean Conflict; he was Honorably
14Discharged in December of 1951 at the rank of Master Sergeant;
15he then returned to Chicago; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bob Kudlicki met his future wife at a north side
17social club in 1952, and they began a 61 year relationship; he
18was united in marriage with Theresa Struke on August 8, 1953,
19at St. Marks Parish in Chicago; their first child, Robert Jr.,
20was born in November of 1955, and their second, Michael, in
21April of 1959; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Bob Kudlicki and his family moved out of the city

1and to Pingree Grove; he worked for Hampshire Printing Company
2and the Hampshire Register; he purchased a franchise of the
3Illinois Cleaners in August of 1959, and he and Theresa worked
4to build up the business for the next 5 years; he and his
5family settled in Hampshire in October of 1964, and then
6purchased the Village Toggery in June of 1969; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Bob Kudlicki believed in giving back to his
8community through involvement with charitable organizations
9and in public service; he was a charter member and past
10president of the Hampshire Lions Club, a member of the
11Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, past commander and member of
12American Legion post #680, and past commander of the Elgin
13Marine Corps League Detachment; he was the current treasurer of
14Boy Scout Troop 22, and had been for over 35 years; he was the
15first member of the Hampshire Zoning Board, was elected Village
16President of Hampshire in 1976, was elected to the Kane County
17Board District 25 in 2002, was on the Executive Board of the
18Kane County Preserve District, and was a member of the Solid
19Waste Management and Administration Committees; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bob Kudlicki was preceded in death by his parents,
21Sigmund and Cecelia Kudlicki; his brothers, Sigmund Jr.,
22Edward, Chester, Casimir, Jerry, and Richard; and his sisters,
23Florence and Bernice (Jean); and

1    WHEREAS, Bob Kudlicki is survived by his wife, Theresa
2(Struke) Kudlicki; his sons, Robert Jr. (Margie) and Michael
3(Rita); his grandchildren, Karmen, Michael Jr., Jessica, and
4Robert III; his brother, Skip and his sisters, Isabelle, Wanda,
5and Angeline; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Bob Kudlicki, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Bob Kudlicki as an expression of our
13sincere condolences.
