SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kenneth D. Sheppard of Peoria, who passed
4away on January 13, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born on May 11, 1924, in Lamberton,
6Minnesota, to Bert and Iva Sheppard; he married Harriet Hinshaw
7on Feb. 14, 1944, in Riverside, California; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He was a combat veteran of World War II, serving
9in the United States Army in the European Theater; and
 
10    WHEREAS, He worked 35 years at LeTourneau-Westinghouse and
11its successors; he was a primary owner of the Peoria Post
12Newspaper; he was a founding member of Citizens for
13Representative Government and South Towners; he was a
14Democratic precinct committeeman; he served on the Peoria
15County Board; and he served on the Peoria City Council as First
16District Councilman; and
 
17    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife and his
18daughter, Niki Walraven; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Kenneth Sheppard is survived by his daughters,
20Penny Callaway and Lori (and Tim) Newlin; his sons, Ted (and

1Chris) and Ned (and Kathy); his son-in-law, Dennis Walraven;
2his 13 grandchildren; and his 6 great-grandchildren;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
6his family and friends, the passing of Kenneth Sheppard; and be
7it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Kenneth Sheppard as a symbol of our
10sincere sympathy.
