SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply saddened to learn of the death of LaVerne Weber of Oswego, who died on July 23, 2012; and

WHEREAS, LaVerne Weber was born on August 13, 1932, in Leland to LaVerne and Athea M. (nee Passow) Weber; he married Barbara A. Fisher on New Year's Eve, December 31, 1955, in Sandwich; and

WHEREAS, LaVerne Weber graduated from Somonauk High School in 1950; he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954, attaining the rank of corporal; he was a member of Carpenters Union Local No. 916 of Aurora, the Lucky 50 Fishing Club, and Senior Services of Yorkville; he was a former member of the Tigers Club and Phoenix Club; he was a member of the Montgomery Memorial VFW Post 7452, where he participated in the funeral honor guard and commanded the color guard for many years; he spent the last four years as post commander; and

WHEREAS, LaVerne Weber served as scoutmaster for Oswego Boy Scout Troup 63 during the 1970's and was involved with the YMCA Indian Guides with his sons; he worked as a carpenter for many years, retiring in 1994; he loved to go fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, LaVerne Weber was preceded in death by his parents, LaVerne and Athea; his son, Jimmy Weber; his sister, Shirley (Weber) Lippold; and his nephew, Paul Lippold; and

WHEREAS, LaVerne Weber is survived by his wife, Barbara A. (nee Fisher); his daughter, Beth Barringer; his sons, Alan (Sue) Weber, Terry Weber, Mark (Debbie) Weber, and Matt (Jane) Weber; his grandchildren, Janell (Mark) Fasso, Jamie (Bryce) Jacobs and Jessica Barringer, Eric (Heather) Weber, Jackie (Kenneth) Van Roekel, Leah (Jake) Evans, Ben (Syntche), Matt, Kelly, and Luke Weber, Lisa (Jason) Fowler; his great-grandchildren, Sadie and Seth Van Roekel, Ava, Brennon, and Cadie Evans, Liam Fowler, Emma and Tessa Jacobs, Mia Barringer, and Alex Fasso; his sister, Virgina Weber; his brothers-in-law, Virgil Lippold and Robert (Karen) Fisher; his niece, Patricia Lippold; and his nephews, Bill Lippold and Wade Fisher; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of LaVerne Weber, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of LaVerne Weber as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
