SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary L. McCoy, who passed away on May 29, 2012; and

WHEREAS, She was born on December 4, 1958 in Yazoo City, Mississippi to the union of Clarence and Willie Mae McCoy; and

WHEREAS, She moved to Chicago in 1965; she attended Michael Faraday and Ryerson Elementary Schools; she graduated from Lucy L. Flowers High School; she confess Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rose Hill Baptist Church in Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, She was a dedicated employee, starting her career at Three Sister's Department Store as a sales associate and later as a member of the management team; she then worked for the United States Postal Service; she spent her last years working for the City of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her father; and

WHEREAS, She was an active member of the 29th Ward Democratic organization and worked campaigns throughout the State of Illinois for over 30 years; she is remembered as a humanitarian with a strong zeal for life; she was selfless and was one of the most "high-spirited" people anyone could ever meet; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Mary L. McCoy; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary L. McCoy as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
