SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Thelma L. Johnson of Bella Vista, Arkansas, formerly of Fulton County and Danville, who passed away on February 9, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Thelma Johnson was born on July 27, 1924, in Williamson County; she was the daughter of Willard R. and Ella K. (Ray) Somers; she married William F. Johnson on March 6, 1943; and

WHEREAS, Thelma Johnson was employed as a real estate and insurance agent; and

WHEREAS, Thelma Johnson was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Danville and its Women's Club, as well as the Christian Women's Club; and

WHEREAS, Thelma Johnson was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her son, Randle Ray Johnson; and her sister, Alveria Ray Carmichael; and

WHEREAS, Thelma Johnson is survived by her son, Montey (Barb) Johnson; her daughters, Marsha (Kent) Matayo and Kathie (Mike) Erwin; her grandchildren, Jo Ellen Johnson, Andrewe (Stephanie) Johnson, Angelia (Bart) Montgomery, Douglas (Amy) Matayo, Mark (Emily Manning) Matayo, Jason (Beth) Johnson, Jana Erwin, Julie Erwin, and Chanda Erwin; and her 16 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Thelma L. Johnson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thelma Johnson as an expression of our sympathy.
