SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard Lee "Richie" Marcum of Joliet, who passed away on February 17, 2011; and

WHEREAS, He was born in Bloomington and lived in Joliet for 60 years; he attended Trinity School and Cornerstone Services; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of Special Recreation of Joliet and Channahon; he was a longtime fixture at St. Joe's Boys Baseball and St. Joseph Parish Park; he loved bowling, dancing, and polka music, and was the winner of several trophies and ribbons for the Special Olympics of Illinois and Special Recreation of Joliet and Channahon; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Marcum; and

WHEREAS, Richard Marcum is survived by his parents, Twila (nee Florey) and James Marcum; his brothers, Bradley (Kim) and Glen (Pat); his sister, Diane (Dave) Zuelke; his sister-in-law, Jennianne Marcum; his nieces and nephews, Sarah (Erik) Schueler, Erin Marcum, Heather (Chris) Dunlap, Amy (Mike) Pepper, Derik Zuelke, Kevin Marcum, Dana (Burke) Schuster, Brett (fiancee, Samantha) Marcum, Patrick Marcum, Allison (Ben) Gunnink, and Tyler Marcum; his 11 great nieces and nephews; his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends, Kathy Green and Katie Dillon; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Richard Marcum; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Marcum as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
