SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Betty M. Nichols of Elkhart, who passed away on May 7, 2012; and

WHEREAS, She was born on January 10, 1928 in rural Lincoln, the daughter of Reynold Orville and Cora Baker Liesman; and

WHEREAS, She married Glenn Arthur Nichols on September 14, 1954; she graduated from Hartsburg High School in 1946; and

WHEREAS, She retired from the Illinois Secretary of State's office where she worked in the Title Department; she later worked at the Dollar Store in Lincoln; she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln and the Wonderful Women & Wine Red Hat Society; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her son, David A. "Sabwah" Nichols; and her brothers, Orville Liesman, Gerald Liesman, and Wilbur Liesman; and

WHEREAS, Betty Nichols is survived by her children, Steve (Cindy) Nichols and Suzann (Mark) Maxheimer; her grandchildren, Jessica Maxheimer, Garret Maxheimer, and Whitney Nichols; and her sisters, Bernice "Totie" Hoffert, Mary Ann Underwood Bratcher, Nevie (Jim) Haseley, and Ruth Steffens; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Betty Nichols; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Betty Nichols as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
