SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Evelyn Logan of Lincoln, who passed away on March 27, 2012; and

WHEREAS, She was born on October 15, 1927 in Elkhart, the daughter of Charles and Jessie Mae De Frates Sloan; she married Edgar L. Logan on May 22, 1949 in Lincoln at her parents home; and

WHEREAS, She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church; a chaperone for Good News Publishing Co. Church Choir; Sunday school superintendent of Lincoln Christian Church; volunteer at Jefferson School Library; a member of Harvest of Talents; Deaconess at Lincoln Christian Church; and a member of the Sarah Circle; and

WHEREAS, She was named Citizen of the Month by the Lincoln Courier; she tutored second and fifth grade students; she was on the Board of Education for 18 years for Lincoln Elementary School District #27; and she was President of the Community Concert; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Stephen "Bud" and Robert Sloan; her sisters, Helena "Sis" Hurley, Margaret Newberry, Gladys Aper, and Hope Klockenga; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Logan is survived by her husband; her sons, Lee (Barbara) Logan, Roy Logan, and John (Becky) Logan; her brother, Chuck (Mary Ann) Sloan; her sister, Helen Singley; her 4 grandchildren; and her 2 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Evelyn Logan; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Evelyn Logan as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
