SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert Phillip Cahill, who passed away on December 4, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Robert Cahill was a 1966 graduate of the Loyola University School of Law; and

WHEREAS, Robert Cahill began his legal career in Springfield, where he worked at the Legislative Reference Bureau; he subsequently served as chief of staff for the Illinois Senate before joining the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, where he served as chief of special litigation; he was with the firm of Rock, Fusco, Reynolds, and Heneghan at the time he was appointed to serve as an associate judge in Cook County in 1983; in November of 1992, he was elected to the Illinois Appellate Court for a 10-year term; he was subsequently retained for a second 10-year term; and

WHEREAS, Robert Cahill served as an elected member of the District 65 Board of Education in Evanston for 4 years during the 1970s; and

WHEREAS, Robert Cahill is survived by his wife, Sarah; his daughters, Beth, Kathryn Cahill Dickinson, and Susan; his sisters, Lois Fitzsimons, Shirley Cooke and Patricia Harrison; and his 7 grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Robert Phillip Cahill; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Cahill as an expression of our sympathy.
