SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Shirley Kelling Miller of Peoria, who passed away on February 1, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Miller was born on August 27, 1925, in Chicago; she was the daughter of Edwin H. and Berenice Fern Kelling; she married Don M. Miller on July 12, 1947, in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Miller graduated from St. Cecilia Grade School and Academy of Our Lady High School; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Miller was employed as an executive secretary at multiple locations, including the Hotel Pere Marquette and the Catholic Diocese of Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Miller was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Sigma Phi Gamma International Sorority, Beta Iota Chapter; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Miller loved traveling and playing pinochle; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Miller was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Edwin "Bud" Kelling; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Miller is survived by her husband, Don; her daughters, Barbara Miller and Christine Sinclair; her son-in-law, Jim Sinclair; and her grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, David, and Daniel Sinclair; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Shirley Kelling Miller; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Shirley Miller as an expression of our sympathy.
