SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William H. "Bill" Lipsey, who passed away on January 3, 2012; and

WHEREAS, William Lipsey was born on February 24, 1917; he was a lifelong resident of Joliet; and

WHEREAS, William Lipsey served with the United States Army in the European Theatre during World War II; he was a member of the 115th Bomb Disposal Squad, where he performed operations in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany; he was a recipient of the Bronze Star for his meritorious service; and

WHEREAS, William Lipsey retired after many years of service as a real estate developer; and

WHEREAS, William Lipsey was a member of the Joliet Jewish Congregation B'Nai Brith; he was a board member of Trinity School and a 50-year Exchange Club member; he was a past president of the Joliet Jewish Congregation, the Joliet Chapter of Unico National, the Will County Health Department, the Joliet Exchange Club, and the Will County Forest Preserve; he was a past board member of the Guardian Angel Home, Easter Seals, and the Joliet Junior College Foundation Board; he also served as a member of the Will County Board for 14 years; and

WHEREAS, William Lipsey was preceded in death by his loving wife, Theresa M. "Jeri" Lipsey; his daughter, Sharon Smithson; his parents, Sam and Rose Lipsey; and his brothers, Bernard J. "Bud" and Stanley Lipsey; and

WHEREAS, William Lipsey is survived by his daughters, Nancy Malmfeldt and Rose (John) DelRose; his granddaughters, Tammy Adbughani, Kim (Bob) Libman, Jodi Kirk, Rachel Malmfeldt, Gina DelRose, and Jennifer (Matt) McCann; his grandsons, John Elliott, Gerald (Dawn) Malmfeldt, and Jason (Jenica) DelRose; his great-grandchildren, Jerrica and Dane Malmfeldt, Logan and Ameena Adbughani, Benjamin Kozuh, Violet McCann, Gianna Delrose, and Alex and Joshua Libman; and his sister-in-law, Gloria D. (Wyss) Lipsey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of William H. "Bill" Lipsey; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Lipsey as an expression of our sympathy.
