SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Therese Frances (Martin) Smith of Owatonna, Minnesota, who passed away on December 8, 2011; and

WHEREAS, She was born December 21, 1925, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, graduated from College of St. Theresa in Winona, where she met World War II veteran John M. Smith, whom she married July 29, 1950; and

WHEREAS, They made their home in Owatonna, where they raised 7 children; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and her 5 siblings; and

WHEREAS, Therese Frances (Martin) Smith will be dearly missed by many, most especially her sons, Bernard Patrick, Stephen John, and Robert Martin; her daughters, Anne Therese Lauer, Mary Louise ("Molly"), Tracy Marie, and Kathleen Bridget Madden ("Kasey"); and her 15 grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Therese Frances (Martin) Smith; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Therese Frances (Martin) Smith as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
