SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mildred Julia Grandone, who passed away on November 18, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Grandone was born on January 7, 1921, in Gillespie; her parents were Mikhail Bertolis and Anna (Yanalitis) Bertolis; she married James J. Grandone Sr. on December 26, 1942, in Greensboro, North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Grandone lived in Gillespie until 1957; she then lived at her residence in Alton from 1957 to 2010; she lived in Grand Junction from 2010 to 2011; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Grandone was a graduate of Gillespie High School; she was employed as a licensed Realtor in Alton for 15 years; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Grandone was a talented decorator and seamstress who loved antiques; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Grandone was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, the Daughters of Isabella, and the National Association of Realtors; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Grandone was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother, Joe; and her sisters, Beatrice and Vera; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Grandone is survived by her son, James M. (Mary) Grandone; her daughter, Carol A. (Francis) Raley; and her grandchildren, Erin J. Shenk, Michael J. Shenk, and James John Grandone II; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Mildred Julia Grandone; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mildred Grandone as an expression of our sympathy.
