SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of United States Army Sergeant Michael
4Bartley of Barnhill, who was killed in action in Iraq on
5January 15, 2011; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sgt. Michael Bartley was born on November 1, 1987,
7in Evansville, Indiana; his parents are Rebecca Isles and
8Robert Isles; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Sgt. Michael Bartley graduated from Fairfield
10Community High School in 2007; he attended Orchardville Church
11in Xenia; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Sgt. Michael Bartley served in the United States
13Army with the 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade
14Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division, a unit based in Fort
15Hood, Texas, that is currently serving in Iraq; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Sgt. Michael Bartley was on his second deployment
17in Iraq; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Sgt. Michael Bartley was preceded in death by his
19grandfathers, Bill Lewis and Robert Isles; and

1    WHEREAS, Sgt. Michael Bartley is survived by his parents,
2Rebecca and Robert, and his grandparents, Delta Lewis, Glenda
3Isles, and Henry Bartley; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Sgt. Michael Bartley will be remembered by all who
5knew and loved him for his work ethic and optimistic spirit;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Sgt. Michael Bartley's patriotism and courage
8will be remembered fondly by his loving family, his fellow
9soldiers, and the citizens of our grateful nation; therefore,
10be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13his family and friends, the passing of United States Army
14Sergeant Michael Bartley; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Sgt. Michael Bartley as an
17expression of our sympathy.
