SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal
4Jordan Stephen Bastean of Pekin, who passed away on October 23,
52011; and
 
6    WHEREAS, L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean was born on March 10, 1992,
7in Peoria; his parents are Steven Phillip and Kathy Rae
8(Leichtenberg) Bastean; and
 
9    WHEREAS, L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean graduated from Pekin
10Community High School (P.C.H.S.) in 2010; while at P.C.H.S., he
11was a 4-year cadet of the JROTC and was the captain of the Air
12Rifle Team; he also participated in track and cross country;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean served his country with
15pride and distinction as a member of the 3rd Battalion, 7th
16Marine Regiment of the 1st Marine Division, I Marine
17Expeditionary Force out of Twentynine Palms, California; and
 
18    WHEREAS, L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean loved big trucks, hunting,
19and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Cubs; and
 
20    WHEREAS, L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean was preceded in death by

1his cousin, Ella Leichtenberg; and
 
2    WHEREAS, L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean is survived by his mother,
3Kathy Bastean; his father, Steven Bastean; his grandparents,
4Bob Leichtenberg, Judy Leichtenberg, Thomas Bastean, and
5Jackie and Phil Pampinella; his great-grandparents, Florence
6and Jim Arnold, Ray Besancenez, and Gene and Gina Vahle; and
7his many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and
 
8    WHEREAS, L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean's patriotism and courage
9will be remembered fondly by his loving family, his fellow
10soldiers, and the citizens of our grateful nation; therefore,
11be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14his family and friends, the passing of United States Marine
15Corps Lance Corporal Jordan Stephen Bastean; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of L. Cpl. Jordan Bastean as an
18expression of our sympathy.
