SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John Hixon of Danville, formerly of Chrisman, who passed away on April 2, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He was born March 17, 1941, in Urbana to Carl and Pauline Clark Hixon; he married Carolyn Currier on October 28, 1961, in Louisville, Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, He had worked at Hyster for 33 years, serving as secretary-treasurer of the ILBTU local; he was a member of the Further Light Lodge, Gao Grotto, where he served as Past Monarch; and he was a member of the Midwest Grotto Association, where he served as past president; and

WHEREAS, He also was an Indy and NASCAR racing fan, proud member of the 1959 class of Scottland High School, Honorary Kentucky Colonel, and an ardent and lifelong Democrat; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his maternal and paternal grandparents; his sister, Judith; his aunt, Berdina Martin; and his uncles, Merl Clark and Ralph Hixon; and

WHEREAS, John Hixon is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his sons, John Hixon and Carl Scott (Laura) Hixon, and his brother, Merl (Betty) Hixon; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of John Hixon; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Hixon as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
