SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy L. Carben, who passed away on January 30, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Carben served as a religion teacher for 52 years; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Carben was the past Worthy Matron of the Olive Chapter of Eastern Star #396 and the Royal Matron of the Former Steel City Court; she was also a member of Church of the Four Seasons; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Carben was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Carben; her brothers, Robert and Norman Barnhouse; and her sister, Betty Jane Chadwick; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Carben is survived by her children, Marilyn (Pete) Tsikouris, Phyllis Eastman, Laverne (Jerry) Sprague, Victor (Sheri), James (Chris) Carben, and Randy (Mary) Carben; her brother, Richard (Patricia) Barnhouse; her 27 grandchildren; her 32 great-grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Dorothy L. Carben; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dorothy Carben as an expression of our sympathy.
