SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joe Eugene Dunbar of Benton, who passed away on September 7, 2011; and

WHEREAS, He was born December 23, 1935, in Benton, the son of Thompson and Pearl Dunbar; he married the former Joyce Lee Goff on July 2, 1955; and

WHEREAS, He was a retired Illinois State Police trooper from District 13; he served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2898 and American Legion Post 280, both of Benton; he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Benton, where he faithfully served as a volunteer with the Brown Bag Lunch Program for children; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brother, Frank Dunbar; and his sister; and

WHEREAS, Joe Dunbar is survived by his sons, Rob Dunbar (Jennifer) and Scott Dunbar; his daughter, Cindy (Kyle) Schmitt; his grandchildren, Alecia Dunbar, Andrew Scott Dunbar, Jeffrey Moore, Dustin Dunbar, Kara Dunbar, Daniel Schmitt, Jama Dunbar, and Kymberly Schmitt; his great-grandchildren, Dawson, Azhure, Shanndyn, and Kamden; and his brother, Thompson "Junior" Dunbar; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Joe Dunbar; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joe Dunbar as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
