SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John H. Weitendorf Sr. of Joliet, who
4passed away on September 17, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Weitendorf Sr. was born in Frankfort; he was
6a lifelong resident of the Joliet area; and
 
7    WHEREAS, John Weitendorf Sr. graduated from Joliet
8Township High School with the class of 1940; he then graduated
9from Joliet Junior College with the class of 1942; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Weitendorf Sr. was the former owner and
11broker of Town and Country Realtors, where he served his
12community for over 65 years; he was also a Past President of
13the Will County Association of Realtors; and
 
14    WHEREAS, John Weitendorf Sr. was a member of the Board of
15Joliet Junior College Foundation; he was a 32nd Degree Mason
16with the Matteson Lodge #175, A.F. & A.M.; he established a
17scholarship fund at Joliet Junior College and supported
18multiple programs, including the Weitendorf Agricultural
19Center; he was instrumental in developing the Mary L.
20Weitendorf Family Center at the Morning Star Mission; he was a
21benefactor of the Mayo Clinic Alzheimers Unit in Jacksonville,

1Florida, and served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross
2Disaster Response Team; he was also a former Republican
3Precinct Committeeman, a former member of the Joliet Elks Lodge
4#296, and a founding member of St. Edward the Martyr Episcopal
5Church; and
 
6    WHEREAS, John Weitendorf Sr. was preceded in death by his
7son, Thomas Weitendorf; his beloved wife, Mary L. (nee Corsini)
8Weitendorf; his parents; and his sister and brother; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Weitendorf Sr. is survived by his daughters,
10Susan Weitendorf, Holly (Dorey) Weitendorf, and Sally (Randy)
11Pickell; his son, John H. (Theresa) Weitendorf, Jr.; and his
12grandchildren, Eric and J.P. Pickell and John "Trey" H.
13Weitendorf III; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
16his family and friends, the passing of John H. Weitendorf Sr.;
17and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of John Weitendorf Sr. as an expression
20of our sympathy.
