SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ricky Lee Randolph, who passed away on
4August 24, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph was born on November 2, 1963,
6in Chicago; his parents were Sylvester and Fannie Randolph; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph graduated from Mason
8Elementary and Farragut High School; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph was baptized at an early age by
10the late Reverend George Clark; in his final months, he began
11attending worship services at New Life Covenant Church under
12the leadership of Senior Pastor John F. Hannah; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph worked in the conference center
14at the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis since 1997; he served as
15the supervisor of a team of five who worked for Compass Group,
16a food services company; he was well loved and respected by his
17co-workers and the lawyers at the firm; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph loved to cook; his passion for
19food led him to start his own company, Ricky Randolph Catering;
20he began his business by selling dinners in the community;

1through word of mouth, Ricky's business grew by leaps and
2bounds; Ricky cooked for judges, lawyers, dignitaries, the cast
3and crew of numerous Broadway productions, including The Lion
4King, Mary Poppins, and The Color Purple, and his family and
5friends; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph was well known for his Ricky
7Randolph & Friends Annual White Party, which brought his
8community together each summer for one night of Hollywood in an
9urban milieu; the White Party was Ricky's gift of love to the
10Lawndale community and he spared no expenses in this display of
11excellence; the event helped to raise funds to produce the 1400
12and 1500 blocks of South Kenneth's Annual Back-to-School Block
13Club Party and offset the costs for purchasing book bags and
14school supplies for children in the community; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph was preceded in death by his
16brothers, Sylvester Jr. and James; his sister, Diane; and his
17parents; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ricky Lee Randolph is survived by his sisters,
19Barbara (Thomas), Sherain (Maurice), Vickie (Joseph), and
20Tajuana (William); his brother, Kenneth; his daughter, Shakita
21Thurman; his uncles, Willie, Chester, Clarence, Aubrey, and
22George; his nieces, Shunvonner, LaShunda, Sheri, Keneata,
23Kewana, Tameika, Terinika, Jasmine, and Joy; his nephews,

1Sylvester III, Thomas, Will, Fontaine, Terry, Willie, Kenard,
2Joseph, Josh, Kenneth, Keshon, and Marcus; and his many
3great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nieces and
4great-great nephews, special siblings, other family members,
5and special friends; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8his family and friends, the passing of Ricky Lee Randolph; and
9be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Ricky Lee Randolph as an expression
12of our sympathy.
