SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gary Lowell Cummins of Brocton, who passed away on October 31, 2010; and

WHEREAS, He was born December 14, 1948 in Paris to Lowell "Banty" Cummins and Louise Wright Cummins; he married Lois Richey on May 24, 1975 in Brocton; and

WHEREAS, He was a lifelong resident of Brocton; he worked as the Embarrass Township Road Commissioner for 28 years and was a 41-year member of the Brocton Fire Department; he was also a long time member of the Brocton Spring Festival Draft Horse Committee; and

WHEREAS, He was an avid sportsman; he enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends; in more recent years, he had taken up the hobby of drag racing; he never passed up the opportunity to have a cup of coffee and visit with friends at the local restaurant; he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; and his grandson, Caden Cummins; and

WHEREAS, Gary Cummins is survived by his sons, Thad Cummins and Shon (Niki) Cummins; and his grandson, Trevyn Cummins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Gary Cummins; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gary Cummins as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
