SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Officer Thor Odin Soderberg, who passed away July 7, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Officer Soderberg was appointed to the Chicago Police Department and served faithfully for over a decade; and

WHEREAS, Officer Soderberg served the Chicago Police Department as an instructor in the Education and Training Division; and

WHEREAS, Officer Soderberg also served the Chicago Police Department as part of a crime-fighting initiative called Operation Project Youth; and

WHEREAS,The Chicago Police Department has retired Officer Soderberg's star, which is numbered 14767; and

WHEREAS, Officer Soderberg was a proud member of the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #7; and

WHEREAS, Officer Soderberg leaves behind his wife, four siblings and his parents; and

WHEREAS, Officer Soderberg dedicated and gave his life to protecting and serving the people of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, and Fraternal Order of Police brothers and sisters, the passing of Officer Thor Soderberg; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Officer Soderberg as an expression of our sympathy.
