SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of United States Army Specialist Andrew Paul
4Wade of Antioch, who passed away on March 9, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade was born on February 27, 1989, in
6Fort Hood, Texas; he was the son of Douglas and Elizabeth
7(Hagedorn) Wade; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade grew up in Antioch; he was a 2007
9graduate of Antioch Community High School, where he was a very
10active soccer player; during high school, he started with the
11varsity team for two years and was one of the few juniors to
12aid the team in winning the regional and divisional
13championships, including the North Suburban Conference Prairie
14Division crown, and assisted on one of the two goals that led
15to the team's victory; he was named for All-Sectional Honors by
16the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association and the
17Daily Herald All-Area Team in 2006; he also played with the
18Chicago Kickers Soccer Club for six years; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade joined the United States Army in
20September of 2008 as a 5th generation soldier; after completing
21his basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia, he was assigned to
22the 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat

1Team of the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York; he
2was deployed to serve in Afghanistan in support of Operation
3Enduring Freedom in the spring of 2010; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade earned many decorations and
5awards for his service, including the NATO Medal, the Army
6Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the
7Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service
8Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon,
9and the Combat Infantryman Badge; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade was a member of St. Peter Church;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade was preceded in death by his
13paternal grandparents, Paul and Deloriouse Wade; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade is survived by his parents,
15Elizabeth and Douglas Wade; his sister, Alicia (Damon)
16Litchfield; his brothers, Steven and Jonathan Wade; his
17maternal grandparents, Mary Jane Hagedorn and Richard
18Hagedorn; his nieces, Veronica Mauritz and Haley Braverman; and
19his nephews, Derrion and Dominic Litchfield; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with

1his family and friends, the passing of Specialist Andrew Paul
2Wade; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Spc. Andrew Wade as an expression of
5our sympathy.
