SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Andrew H. "Andy" Olesen of
4Rockford, who passed away on December 10, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Andrew Olesen was born on February 23, 1947, to
6Anker and Sena (Kuhlmann) Olesen; he married Patricia Beck on
7September 12, 1970, in Pierre, South Dakota; he was a Vietnam
8veteran and served in the U.S. Army as a helicopter pilot; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Andrew Olesen was a longtime member of Bethlehem
10Lutheran Church; he enjoyed playing golf, racquetball, and was
11an avid Green Bay Packer fan; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Andrew Olesen had been a pilot for the "REACT"
13team for Rockford Memorial Hospital for the past 5 years; it
14was during the discharge of his duties for REACT that he and
15flight nurses Jim Dillow and Karen Hollis perished when they
16encountered bad weather on route to pick up a critically ill
17patient; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Andrew Olesen was preceded in death by his
19parents, Anker and Sena Olesen and his sister, Barbara; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Andrew Olesen is survived by wife, Pat; his son,

1Tony (Julie) Olesen; his daughter, Michelle (Rufo) Reyes; his
2grandchildren, Jacob, Caitlin, and Addison Olesen; his
3sisters, Kathryn Nordstrom and Connie (David) Selleck; and his
4nieces, Cindy Filips and Sherry Nordstrom, and their families;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Andrew Olesen, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Andrew Olesen as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
