SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas J. "Tom" Cook of Oswego, who passed away on November 28, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Cook graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in Chicago in 1957; he was very active with the school's Alumni Group; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Cook worked with the R.C. Wegman Construction Company on many local projects, his proudest being the Hollywood Casino in Aurora; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Cook was a proud member of many associations and organizations within the Aurora community, including the Rotary Club, the Aurora Contractors Association, the Fox Valley Corvette Club, and the Aurora Economic Development Commission; he was also co-chairman of the Millennium Plaza of Aurora, chairman of the board of 'Seize the Future', and a past chairman of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Cook was a member of the New Life Church in Yorkville and served on the church's Board of Directors; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Cook enjoyed boating, motorcycles, and cars, especially Corvettes; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Cook was the beloved husband of Jean (nee Jacobsen); the loving father of Thomas Jr. (Donna), Kathryn, Michael (Janel), and John (Trisha); and the cherished grandfather of Michael, Alex, Danielle, R.J. Miranda, Ashley, Alyssa, Ainslee, Matthew, Chase, Nicole, and Hayden; he is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Thomas J. "Tom" Cook; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the family of Thomas Cook as an expression of our sympathy.
