SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mervin Frerichs of Armstrong, who passed away on December 1, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Mervin Frerichs was born on August 15, 1936, to John and Anna (Ackerman) Frerichs; he married Florence Siuts on June 19, 1955; and

WHEREAS, Mervin Frerichs was a lifelong farmer and family man; he was a lifetime and active member of St. John Lutheran Church; he served on the church council and was a member of the choir and numerous committees; he was also a member of the Martin Luther Men's Choir; and

WHEREAS, Mervin Frerichs served 18 years as a school board member and president of the Armstrong High School Board and he was a bus driver for 25 years; he served on the Vermilion County Farm Bureau for 9 years and as a Pilot Township supervisor; he was a University of Illinois Assembly Hall usher for 25 years and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and UI fan; and

WHEREAS, Mervin Frerichs was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Frerichs; his stepmother, Louise (Osterbur); his brother, Herbert John Frerichs; and his step-brother, Robert Osterbur; and

WHEREAS, Mervin Frerichs is survived by his wife, Florence; his children, Cindy (Charles) Koonce, Kerry (Annette) Frerichs, Randy (Patricia) Frerichs, and Peggy (James) Vermillion; his grandchildren, Shane, Jennifer, Jeremy, Joshua, John, Katherine, Jordan, Acasia, Tyler, Kolton, and Kylee; his great-grandchildren, Jessica, James, Emma, Giselle, Gage, Abigail, Aleta, Evan, Ella, Emilia, and Lillian; his step-grandchildren, Jason and Lindsay; his step-great-grandchild, Aiden; his sisters, Ilene Ackerman, Marilyn Frerichs, and Beverly (Lester) Wolken; his brothers, Herbert (Lois) Frerichs and Lewis (Diana) Frerichs; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mervin Frerichs, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mervin Frerichs as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
