HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor the life of Charles C. Everett; and

WHEREAS, He served as a publicly elected Trustee of the Prospect Heights Public Library District Trustee for 21 years, and served as its President from May 2008 until his passing in 2010; and

WHEREAS, He was married for 62 years to Ruth L. Everett, with whom he raised 3 children; he was a grandfather and a great-grandfather; and

WHEREAS, He was a graduate of Austin High School; his college education was interrupted when he was drafted into the United States Army in 1945; he returned from Korea and earned a degree in electrical engineering; and

WHEREAS, He retired after 38 years from Case International Harvester; after his retirement,, he worked as a substitute teacher at Maine East High School; he was an Eagle Scout, a Boy Scout leader, and proud that his family had 4 Eagle Scouts; and

WHEREAS, He served as a Board of Election Judge for approximately 20 years, was an active member of the Medinah Shriners, and was a loyal longstanding member of Christ Church United Church of Christ in Des Plaines, where he served as a member of the Church Council; and

WHEREAS, In addition to serving his community, he enjoyed camping, scouting, golfing, Facebooking with his grandchildren, and tinkering in his basement workshop on computers and like items; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor the life of Charles Everett and his legacy in the Village of Prospect Heights; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Everett and the Prospect Heights Public Library as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
