HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, John R. Crozier, Jr. was a 15-year member of
3Laborers' Local 911 in Ottawa and was a certified flagger for
410 years; on May 22, 2003, he was hit by a drunk driver while
5serving as a road construction flagman at a construction site
6on Illinois Route 23; he passed away from his injuries 4 days
7later; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Flaggers like John Crozier, Jr. assume the risk of
9serious injury or death in the course of their daily work, in
10order to assure the safety of construction crews at work on the
11roads of Illinois; and
 
12    WHEREAS, It is fitting that we honor the memory of John
13Crozier, Jr. and remember the tragic event that took his life;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we designate the portion of Illinois Route 23 south of the City
18of Ottawa as the John R. Crozier, Jr. Memorial Highway; and be
19it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
21is requested to erect, consistent with State and federal

1regulations, signs displaying the name of the John R. Crozier,
2Jr. Memorial Highway; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
4delivered to the Secretary of the Illinois Department of
5Transportation and to the family of John R. Crozier, Jr.
