HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the congregation of St. Paul Baptist Church of Peoria on the occasion of the church's 98th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The first St. Paul Baptist Church was organized in 1914 by a Mission Band of ladies from Mount Zion with the leadership of Rev. William H. Hayes, and was incorporated in 1917; and

WHEREAS, St. Paul Baptist Church is committed to transforming people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ so that Christ's life may be seen in their lives; and

WHEREAS, St. Paul Baptist Church exists to catch and cultivate the lost so that they may have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ which will cause them to celebrate Him, commune with believers, and work with the church to fulfill the Great Commission; and

WHEREAS, The congregants at St. Paul Baptist Church share a mission of evangelism, discipleship, worship, fellowship, and ministry with each other and the entire community in Peoria; and; and

WHEREAS, St. Paul Baptist Church provides ministries for congregants at every stage of their life, welcomes all people to join in them in worship, and strives to meet the needs of the entire community; and

WHEREAS, The congregation of St. Paul Baptist Church serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the congregation of the St. Paul Baptist Church in Peoria on the occasion of the church's 98th anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend Deveraux R. Hubbard of the St. Paul Baptist Church of Peoria as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
